We drove to Jugger Howe on Fylingdales Moor, the walk we’d aborted a couple of days ago. We followed the path up across the moor following a track laid down by the military in WW2 – they used this area for practice – and down into a valley where there was small tree-lined stream.

Over the stream and up the hill and across the moor opposite, then back the same way. Lots of Tiger Beetles and some Common Lizards.

We walked alongside the stream for a bit. There was a Whinchat.

We had half of a nice layered pie for lunch (bought at the butchers yesterday) on top of the moor.
We saw a Snipe.

In the afternoon we drove to Ravenscar on the coast. Nice sea views across to Robin Hood’s Bay.

We did a short loop taking in the remains of the alum works, a pond with Newts and came back along an old railway line.

After dinner we walked down to the Barn Owl box and sat by the pond and watched the Barn Owl coming and going.
