We checked out of the St Davids Cross Hotel and drove for an hour up to Poppit Sands and then took a narrow lane that turned into a gravel track and parked next to an unoccupied Yurt campsite. We walked around Cemaes Head: blue skies, dramatic cliffs, wild flowers, butterflies (inc Painted Ladies), Choughs. Hardly any wind and the sea was calm so it was quiet on the top apart from the twittering of Pipits and Skylarks and the Chough calls.

Then to Cardigan where we had lunch in a cafe and then went to the Teifi Marshes wildlife trust reserve. Parked there. The visitor centre was shut, like most things here on Monday and Tuesday. We walked around the reserve trails and looked in the hides. Hazel and Oak woodland, marshes, estuary.

Willow trees had catkins issuing downy seeds which filled the air and lay in drifts on the ground. We probably inhaled a few thousand.

Back at St Davids we checked in to the Twr Y Felin hotel. It’s an old windmill, quite fancy, best meal we’ve had in ages. Crab, terrine, lamb, venison, lemon thing, cheese, nice wine.
