Tue May 12: Walberswick

We checked out of the Brudenell and drove half an hour up to Walberswick. We parked over the narrow bridge by the beach.

Morning walk

We walked alongside the River Blyth, and then back inland past the derelict cottage called Tinker’s House on the map.

We had lunch at the Anchor in Walberswick. Oysters and ploughman’s.

Then we walked south through the reedbeds and back through the woods.

Tea and cake in the tea shop in Walberswick. We couldn’t check in to the Eel’s Foot until 6pm, so we stopped at Minsmere on the way. Saw a Bittern and various other Minsmere specialities.

After dinner, bats and owls and a single Nightjar down the lane.

Today was supposed to be an easy day, but we’d walked 13 miles by the end.
