Sat May 9: Whitstable, boat trip, Beaver

We drove 20 minutes and parked on the road verge just west of Seasalter. We walked a few miles along the coast path and back, alongside the sea wall. Inland was Cleve Marshes and a bit further on, a solar farm. Lots of Reed Warblers, Sedge Warblers and Reed Buntings, plus Corn Buntings, Pipits, Stonechats, Skylarks.

Then we went to Whitstable. We’d booked a 3pm boat trip, so worked out where the boat would be leaving from and then went for lunch at the Whitstable Oyster Company. Very good meal, with Oysters, Scallops, Plaice, Crab, Almond cake.

Then on the boat, a big catamaran, out to the Red Sands Towers Maunsell Forts.

On the way back we went to look at the Kentish Flats wind farm, the boat pulling up right under one of the turbines.

After dinner we walked along the river a bit and saw a Beaver.

It came right up close to us.
