We walked down the road out of the village and took a footpath past the sewage works. A road bridge crosses the Dulas Brook and the River Dore just where the two rivers meet. There, when we stopped to watch a Dipper, a Mink swam across the River Dore below us and away upstream along the edge of the river.
We walked along a lane for a mile or so and then across muddy fields. It was hard-going through the sticky mud. We saw some Red-Legged Partridges.

Down through some woods, all churned up by pigs, and at the bottom some pigs in a pen.

The sky was still and clear and full of Buzzards, mewling and flying courtship displays.
At Grosmont we looked around the castle.

Then we had lunch in the excellent Angel Inn. Cauliflower and Per Las soup.

Back across lanes and muddy fields to Ewyas Harold.

We had a look at Ewyas Harold castle – it was just a steep mound with trees and goats on it.
