We went down to the beach and then walked up to St Illtyd’s church. The church appeared to be open so we went in but were met by the vicar and an elderly female who were there preparing for a wedding tomorrow – the church wasn’t really open. The vicar gave us a non-stop commentary on the church’s history and that of a number of other Gower churches, plus wildlife in the area. Otters are around nearby, and Adders, and Horseshoe Bats roost up in the top of the church. We were encouraged to go to the service on Sunday.

We followed the footpath past the church and climbed the 300 (according to the vicar) steps and then walked back down the hill to Oxwich.

We went among the dunes behind Oxwich Bay. There were ponies. A boardwalk meandered between reedbeds on one side and flooded woodland on the other.
