We parked near the old railway station at Cloughton and walked along the disused railway line for a bit, then went along the coast path.

Some birds: Yellowhammer.

Then down through the woods to the waterfall at Hayburn Wyke.

Had lunch on the beach, nice left-over pie from Tuesday. That’s pies for lunch three days in a row.

We went back up through the woods and got slightly lost, then we had a coffee at the Hayburn Wyke Inn. We took the footpath rather than the railway track back, walking through meadows and coming across a pool that wasn’t on the OS map.

Chiffchaffs and Chaffinches were making a right din, we saw Long-tailed Tits and Bullfinches and a bit further on we sat for half an hour and watched Great Tits coming to and from their nest hole in an old tree stump.

We drove back. Approaching the front door we came across a family of Tree-Creepers, four young and the adults coming to and fro to feed them.

We packed some stuff up and then walked the half-mile to the Homestead Kitchen for another very nice meal.
Curlew calling on the way out.
