We walked into Goathland village and across the railway line.

Our route followed the railway line pretty closely and we heard steam trains chuffing and hooting while we walked.
On the moor we saw a Common Lizard. Curlews were calling and flying about.

At Grosmont there was a bustle of activity with lots of people watching the steam and diesel trains.

We had lunch in a cafe next to the railway line.

After lunch we saw a Dipper and a Red Deer jumped over a gate.

There was a small Slow Worm.

We went back past the Birch Hall Inn at Beck Hole, supposedly (one of many of) the smallest pub(s) in England, hoping for a pint, but it was shut. So we went to the Mallyan Spout Hotel in Goathland and had a pint there sat outside.
In the evening we went for dinner at The Homestead Kitchen in the village. Smoked Eel, Asparagus, Pork, Souffle, all very good and unexpectedly posh and expensive. We’ve booked to go back on Thursday.
