Breakfast took ages, but eventually we made it to Flamborough Head Light House car park. We walked along the cliffs and looked at the teeming hordes of Guillemots, Razorbills, Kittiwakes. Dolphins were jumping about out at sea.,

We drove to the Bempton Cliffs RSPB reserve. It was busy, we had to park in the second overflow car park. Tree Sparrows on the way to the visitor centre, where we bought sandwiches for lunch.

Then out on the cliffs for lots of Gannets, Guillemots, Razorbills, a few Puffins.

There was excitement among some of the birdwatchers on the cliff as they’d recently seen a Peregrine Falcon catch a Puffin in flight. The female Peregrine was now perched on the cliff.

On the way back we stopped at Filey Dams reserve. We drove through a bungalow estate and stopped in the small car park. A big pond with three hides. More bird boxes than anywhere else in the world. Heron, Geese, Ducks, divers water fowl, Tree Sparrows, LT Tits.

Back at the hotel the portly proprietor came to take our dinner order, after a long chat, and revealed that he’d received fresh crabs and lobster today. The young waitress, though apparently happy to eat a burger at MacDonalds, didn’t like the thought of cooking the lobsters which were still “wriggling under a towel” in the fridge. We’ been dreading dinner, assuming it would be a rehash of last night’s disappointing menu, but he made us crab thermidor followed by two whole lobsters with salad and boiled potatoes. Delicious. We were the only people in the restaurant. We had control of the music in the dining room by shouting “Alexa, play …” to the Alexa in the corner.
