
We did a similar walk to the walk we did when we last stayed here four years ago almost to the day. Up Gallox hill behind Dunster, but by a different route this time, through mixed woodland with birdsong, Squirrels, Roe Deer, Exmoor Ponies.


On the top of the hill was Bat’s Castle, the remnants a 2000-year old settlement.


Then down the other side of the hill through Withycombe
and on to Blue Anchor, where we had sandwiches and a pint in the Smugglers Inn. J was recovering from a sprained ankle, so R went back along the beach for the car while J drank coffee in the pub and a cafe in Blue Anchor.
