Friday: coming home

We took a scenic route along meandering B-roads out of Snowdonia and stopped at the Elan Valley visitor centre. We walked along the road through the village and crossed a cattle grid up into the Carn Gafallt woods, an area of ancient Oak woods managed by the RSPB.

We saw lots of Pied Flycatchers, Spotted Flycatchers, Redstarts. We heard Wood Warblers and lots of Cuckoos. Out of the woods we followed a bridle path up onto the moors. Red Kites were in abundance. Also Wheatears.

The path wound around the hill and back down to the Caban-coch Reservoir.

We bought sandwiches from the visitor centre, and then went home.
