We stopped at Llyn Parc Mawr at the northern edge of Newborough Forest. Just next to the car park there were Red Squirrels around a feeder, and high up in the Corsican Pines.
We walked round a trail through the woods for an hour or so. We sheltered in a hide during a heavy rain shower and saw Tufted Ducks and Little Grebes and a Jay.
Back at the car park we watched some birds, including Coal Tits and a pair of Great Spotted Woodpeckers.
Into Newborough and then down to the car park near the beach. It was quite busy there. We bought some coffee from the coffee stand and then walked along the big sandy beach.
At the end of the beach was a sand bar leading to Llanddwyn Island. Tide was going out, so it was fine to cross.
On the island there were Stonechats.
Also, the ruined church of St Dwynwen. She thawed her lover from a block of solid ice and then became a nun and kept a well full of magic eels, according to the information board. The paths on the island were made from crushed Cockle shells.
We walked back through the dunes and wood edge. Lots of Silver-studded Blue butterflies.
On the way back we stopped at the RSPB reserve at Cors Ddyga. We walked along the track and chatted to a local birder for a bit. Then back through the fields. Good views of Lapwings, Marsh Harrier, Sedge Warbler. Cettis singing.
