Thursday: travel home

Yesterday J injured her left big toe stumbling when coming from the snorkelling boat, and this morning the toe had swollen up and turned purple and walking was uncomfortable. J phoned 111 and spoke to a medic who advised, based on the fact that the toe shade was more inclined to purple than blue, that we didn’t need to go to the minor injury unit at St Mary’s hospital, but that J should rest it.

The weather was foggy with rain showers, so the one thing we had considered doing – a guided wildlife walk on St Agnes – wouldn’t have happened anyway. R went into Hugh Town to get some sandwiches for lunch.

Skybus announced that our flight tomorrow morning may be cancelled due to the continued forecast of fog. Both today’s and yesterday’s flights have been cancelled.

We made some phone calls and rescheduled the travel to this afternoon’s 16:30 ferry. The Skybus shuttle picked us up at 15:00 to take us and bags down to the quay, where we stood in a long queue to board. Lots of people in the same boat (ha ha).

We’re on the ferry now, due to arrive at Penzance at 19:15 from where a shuttle bus will hopefully take us to Exeter airport, where the car is. Home by midnight?
