Thursday: Dartmoor walk

Yesterday evening we arrived at the NoBody Inn at Doddiscombsleigh. A poky room but nice pub and garden with good beer, good food and an interesting wine list.
Today, Thursday, we drove 10 minutes to Steps Bridge and parked in the car park there. We walked along the side of the River Teign for the length of Dunsford Wood nature reserve.
Everything was very green, lots of wild flowers and trees in flower and a meadow carpeted with bluebells.
Birds seen included: dipper, goldcrest, chiff chaff, grey wagtails.
Back at the car park we crossed the road and climbed the side of a steep wooded valley.
Great views from the top, then across some heath and fields and down the lanes for lunch (sandwiches, Jail Ale) at the Bridford Inn.
There were lots of ants about.
When we’d finished the walk (10.3 miles) we drove to Lustleigh and went to the Primrose Cafe tea room. All very quaint and picturesque.
