We spent the morning at Titchwell reserve.
Lots of people the by the time we left, many with spotting scopes and long lens cameras. Overheard some talk of the rare rufous bush chat that has been causing some excitement down the road in Stiffkey.
On the beach there were lots of shells washed up in a recent storm.
We went to the Lifeboat pub at Thornham for lunch. Soup, mussels.
We walked from the pub out along the ridge to Holme Dunes. We had good views of goldcrests in the fir trees close to the path.
We walked past the Holme bird observatory as far as the site of a 4000-year old sea henge, discovered there in 1990.
Back at Thornham a couple pointed out a spotted redshank in the low tide mud, and we watched twite in the bank opposite.
Lots of birds today, including avocets, godwits, teal, gadwall, marsh harriers, kestrel, buzzard, red kite, linnet, twite.
