Porridge for breakfast, then left hotel at 9am for drive north.
Out of Glasgow we followed the edge of Loch Lomond. Sky and loch and road were uniform pewter-grey, everything else was verdant green with purple foxgloves all the way. Coffee stop at Tyndrum, then through low cloud and rain up over the great undulating heathery Rannoch Moor. Down through spectacular Glencoe, stopped to look at the Three Sisters, shrouded in mist
then through the Great Glen and stopped to buy provisions for lunch at Fort William.
Parked in Glengarry overlooking the loch and ate smoked venison, bread, Mull cheddar and haggis crisps.
Crossed the bridge to Skye and saws the Cuillins, occasionally visible looming shear through the cloud.
Arrived at the Cowshed bunkhouse, and checked into our cosy pod high up on the hill, with a view down onto the bay and Uig.
Rain stopped, and we walked down to road to the Uig Hotel. Nice dinner of scallops, haggis, red deer, mussels, cheese. Walked back up the lane to the bunkhouse, the verges full of flowering foxgloves, clover, orchids, vetch.
