We planned a walk to a pub in Chagford. It started out drizzly and misty. We walked along the side of the River Teign and watched dippers. We passed an open air swimming pool, closed now and with dark brown dead leaves on the bottom.
After a steep climb up a muddy field followed by a descent through some woods, what looked like a bridge on the OS map turned out to be a river that could only be crossed in summer at lower water, so we were forced to retrace our steps.
We got to Chagford in time for a quick pint, and back to the hotel for lunch at 14:30.
In the evening we played ‘Absolute Balderdash’ in front of a hot wood burner in the lounge. Sibyl won.
