We set off after lunch for the Rock Inn in Haytor Vale, on the north-eastern edge of Dartmoor. We stopped at Yarner wood, a mile or so from the inn, on the way. We walked some trails in the wood and stopped in a hide for a bit. While we were there a warden came in and filled up the bird feeders from a seed hopper in the hide. We watched coal tits on the feeders, and a bank vole emerged from a hole in a tree stump in front of the hide.
Checked into the inn. R enjoyed the Jail Ale, then we had an excellent dinner with a good bottle of white Beaujolais.
